The VRC racing experience is a fun filled one. We have two racing divisions. Division 1 is further divided into division 1 “A” up to PHRF 140, and division 1 “B” PHRF 141 onward. Division 2 is an open division designed to promote cruising vessel. Division 2 courses are more often reach, reach rather than the standard windward leeward. The VRC Yachting Section offers: - après-race socials, where the day's highlights are discussed over a cup of coffee or pint of beer.
 - $2 soups in the winter and $2 burgers in the summer enjoyed with a cup of coffee or pint of beer
- race clinics, where a particular topic will be explained in detail (usually over a cup of coffee or pint of beer!)
- race events that are incorporated into our Cruising schedule.
- VRC Summer Regatta is the premier race event of the summer. The Summer Regatta begins on the Friday night with registration and skippers briefing. Saturday has a long distance race for those who like the long ones. Saturday night is the dinner, dance. Sunday is the final day of racing. Sunday evening is the “Burn your own Bar B que” with the awards presentation. The newest event on the VRC roster is the Anvil Island Race. This race is held in the fall and presents a challenging race from English Bay around Anvil Island in Howe Sound returning to English Bay.
- A new race introduced in October 2007 is the Anvil Island Race. A great test of sailing skills and strategy to round Anvil Island and return to English bay in what could be adverse conditions.
Keep an eye on the website for the exact dates of these races. As members of BC Sailing and VARC, we are active in the entire Vancouver racing scene. So whether you are a serious racer, or just a weekend cruiser who is looking for a little friendly competition, you'll find something in the VRC Racing schedule to suit you. The VRC welcomes members of all other yacht clubs to participate in all of our racing events. Come on out and see what the Yachting Section of the VRC has to offer!
